Man Who Answered “SCAM LIKELY” Call And Was Scammed For 50K Says He Doesn’t Know How This Happened

Herbert “Herb” Sukre was enjoying a quiet evening at home last week when his phone rang. “I usually don’t answer my phone when I’m having my supper but I didn’t know who it could be.” The 38 year old chalkboard salesman decided to answer the call, something he would later regret.

“They said they were calling from my bank to make sure there wasn’t fraudulistic stuff going on with my bank card. They asked me to confirm my card number, expiration date and three digit c’est la vie code on the back. I gave it to them and thanked them for looking out for me. Next thing I know, $50,000 was missing from my account. I sure didn’t think somebody would do something like that.”

Police and bank officials refuse to investigate the crime. “A fool and his money are soon parted and if we got his money back, somebody else would scam him again. We don’t need more work so hopefully he doesn’t have anymore money for someone to steal.” said Harold Weeks of the Cyber Crimes Unit.
